It’s easy to assume that cats know what’s best for their health seeing as they’re so self-sufficient. But, the fact is, there is one thing that they sometimes aren’t doing in their best interest and that’s staying hydrated. A lot of cats simply don’t drink enough water on their own. It may seem harmless enough at first glance, but it can actually turn into a medical emergency fast.
While dehydration can be an emergency in itself, cats can also develop life-threatening urinary stones from lack of water. Now, we know it’s not always easy to get cats to do something that they don’t want to do, but the key to keeping your cat in good health and avoiding these serious issues, as is the case with humans, is to make sure that your cat is drinking plenty of water.
