Whether you and your pet are planning to stay in and cuddle or are ready for an exciting night out on the town, there are so many fun ways that you can celebrate Halloween with your furry loved ones. Here are some of our favorite things to do with our pets to celebrate All Hallows’ Eve:
Dress in Costume
When you think of Halloween, you think of costumes! You see the silly pictures all over the Internet of pets dressed as funny characters. So, have some fun with your little buddies, and get dolled up in your favorite Halloween costumes (if they don’t mind, that is). Just be sure that when you choose a costume for your pet that it fits them comfortably and doesn’t restrict movement or impairs their sight or ability to breathe.
Head to a Pet-Friendly Pumpkin Patch
Now that everyone’s in costume, look for a pet-friendly pumpkin patch where you and your furry loved ones can go and have a good time while snapping some fun Halloween photos. Even if your pet isn’t too crazy about wearing a costume, this can be an exciting experience for both pet and owner, as it gets everyone outside for some fresh air and fall festivities.
Carve a Spooky Pumpkin
After your visit to the pumpkin patch, surely you’ve come home with the perfect pumpkin for carving. This can even be a fun activity to do with your pet. Maybe decorate yours in honor of your pet with a cute cat face or a puppy portrait. Have your little companion sit next to you for inspiration.
If you have an outgoing pet, they may just want to tag along with you and your family for a night of trick-or-treating. Whether proudly walking by your side as you roam the neighborhood or helping you man the front door to hand out treats to all of your visitors, make it a fun family affair! Just be sure that if you take your little buddy out with you that they are well-behaved and don’t spook easily. Halloween can be unpredictable at times when kids, spooky decorations and frightful events are happening, so keep a close eye on them and a tight leash.
Watch a Scary Movie
For those who prefer a night in, snuggle up with your pet for a screening of your favorite Halloween movie. After all, when things start to get scary, who doesn’t want a cute, cuddly friend to curl up with to ease the frightful scenes?
Make a DIY Halloween Toy
From pumpkins, to witches, to bones, there are all kinds of fun Halloween-themed pet toys that you can make right at home. All you need are some basic household items to get you started. Things like old t-shirts, socks and gloves are perfect for making pet toys. You can braid together some orange and black strips for your dog to chew on or sew a spooky monster toy for your cat to bat around.
Make Some Halloween Pet Treats
Humans aren’t the only ones who should get to enjoy treats on Halloween! Fall is the perfect time to shake things up a bit, and try out some new recipes for your best little pals to snack on. There are all sorts of easy and delicious recipes available, including some that make use of all of that leftover pumpkin from your carvings.
Whether you and your pet plan to stay in or make a night of it, always remember – safety first! Happy Halloween!
